Bubba, I completly agree with your original post and would like to make a few comments of my own.

I have been playing softball now for 26 years and still have a huge passion for the game. I love going out onto the field knowing that we have to play our best to beat the team standing accrossed from us. I love when two teams get "fired up". However, what i dont like is the bitching and trash talking towards other teams. We are grown ups, fire your team up, but be a proffessional and show a little bit of respect for your fellow competitors and opponents. I think people forget, utilimately, softball is just a game. It should be enjoyed. Like I said, I love playing softball. Anyone who knows me, sees my passion for the game. Im like a big kid. I try to pump my team up, but also am the first to tell an opposing player, what a great play or hit they just made. Now dont get me wrong, i hate to lose, but if my opponent wins, then he wins, i congratulate them, and move on (short memory).

Furthermore:

Cheaters are cheaters. All you people that use shaved bats, you are cheaters and you unnecesarilly endanger myself and my fellow competitors. I have a wife and two kids. I allready play a dangerous sport. I really dont need the sport to be made more dangerous (against the rules) because your a selfesh bastard that thinks you need a little more pop. Man up, use legitimate equipment and lets have some fun.

Final note, someone posted that we need to police ourselves. Whomever that was, I could not agree with you more. So this is how i police myself:

I never have and never will use a modified bat, or any modified equipment that are outside the parameters of the association rules.

I will not play on a team that uses modified equipment. In the event i find that a player is using a shaved bat , I will either ensure that the said player never uses that bat on my team again, or I will find a new team to play for.

and finally, I have heard the comment "protect your pitcher". I have many friends who are pitchers and have some pitcher friends who have been injured, some severely. I will never, never, ever, intentional attempt to hit a pitcher. Anyone who trys to hit a pitcher intentionally, knowing that they are the closest fielder to the batter (yes i know the catcher is closer, you get what i mean) is a coward.

I said above that I have played slow pitch softball for 26 years. In that time, I have never hit a pitcher. For those whom dont know my playing style, I hit the ball to all fields and often hit the ball to the middle of the field. I know that sometimes the ball gets away from us, but most of us have good enough bat control.

Say what you like. My post was not about your perception of Saturday. I stand by the fact that there are no modified bats on my team. I will inquire more about it. As for your team. I am good friends with several of your players and am not going to critize. What I will stand by, is what i said in my original post about Policing my self and my team!!!

I try to stay positive and say positive things about others. You can say what you want, but I will not enter into a trash talking conversation with you.

Again, this post is not about Middles open or Elite softball, its about some opinions I have that I wanted to share. Feel free to give me your opinions on my original post, whether you agree or disagree (which is absolutely fine), but try to stay within the confines of my original post. Glad to hear all these things, Scotty is one of my favorite people also. Not because I like him but his old lady is damn fine. That was a very unselfish thing I did.... I wanted to save the HR for someone else since I had already hit one! I was taking it for the team!!! :p
